Mice Control

Public Awareness

House Mice are associated with human dwellings and are a very common pest within urban and rural buildings throughout Britain. They are extremely adaptable to dwelling environments and will exploit a number of resources in premises which would be used as nesting materials or a food storage source. They do not come from the sewers though may unsuspectedly manoeuvre from house to house within a residential street consuming household foods and contaminating a number of things occupants may utilise.
Mice are highly capable of climbing and jumping short-ranged distances enabling them to evade danger and gain access to areas thought unlikely by occupants. All surfaces touched eventually become contaminated by both urine and faeces if not from the contact of their fur ultimately transferring bacteria and spreading disease making them a high risk pest. Damage to soft structure materials and cabling (which poses as afire risk) is also likely due to them gnawing to maintain their incisors (front teeth), accessing/exiting dwelling areas and foraging for materials making their eradication extremely urgent before an infestation becomes out of control.
Steel Guard Pest Control are experts in Property Inspection, Rodent Control (Mice), Pesticide Treatments, Prevention Methods & Techniques whilst providing knowledgeable advise with recommendations to prevent a reoccurring infestation. We aim to effectively resolve infestations as swiftly and efficiently as possible (which can depend on the circumstances of an infestation).

Personal Preventative Measures

How to get rid of Mice!

In experiencing a rodent problem, a mice infestation can be disheartening as you may not know where to start and not knowing where their ingress or harbourage points are located can lead to frustration. Areas where mice tend to thrive (though are not limited to) are in Kitchens, Boiler / Utility rooms and Floor Space Voids. They typically tend to gain access behind or beneath Cupboards and areas with piping / wiring systems (for electrical, heating or water). There are a number of preventative measures that can be carried out by occupants to reduce their activity if not get rid of them before or whilst treatment is in progress which are listed below:

  • Place a Humane Mouse Trap in locations where activity is frequent then contact your pest controller to collect and dispose of it.
  • Keep Stored Foods and Prepped Foods in sealed containers and in cupboards keeping the scent out of range from mice if possible.
  • Ensure that Internal Waste is well contained and for any Bio-Waste to be bagged and placed in a contained external bin immediately.
  • An External inspection should be made regularly and any Property Damage, Holes/Gaps and Missing/Damaged Drainage Materials should be repaired or replaced immediately to secure possible ingress points.
  • House Hygiene should be upheld throughout the premises especially within the kitchen area, and all Surfaces should be kept clean from food debris to deter mice activity.

Whether a constant presence persists or mice continue to gain access to your premises and the following steps have been taken, immediately contact Steel Guard Pest Control so a survey and preventative programme to be carried out!
