Crawling insects typically gain access to premises for a number of reasons which include seeking out a food source, foraging for nest/hive materials or to seek out harbourage. Whilst on their travels crawling insects are highly likely to come into contact with unsanitary environments and objects before entering a premises (if not brought in unsuspectingly) spreading disease and contaminating anything touched. They may also pose a threat due to their ability to bite people for either food or protective purposes, though the least harmful of insects are still capable of causing damage to building materials ultimately resulting in financial loss.
